On the 14th of February, 1985, ABG Communications Limited was incorporated and the main goals of the company are to design, manufacture, assemble, import and export communications equipment. In 1991, ABG Communications Limited pioneered the microwave multi-channel distribution system (MMDS) wireless cable TV system in Africa, became one of the first licensed broadband internet (including Wi-Max and Wi-Fi) and radio transceivers operator during the 1990s in Nigeria.

 

ABG Communications Limited also specializes in state of the art security system equipment. Other products in the company’s chain include: inverters for uninterrupted electricity supply, bulk SMS for dissemination of information to millions of mobile users, mobile libraries, mobile skills acquisition workshops, supercomputers used as databanks for mega data and digital archival systems.

 

Below are other pioneering roles of ABG Communications Limited:

  • Manufacture of the first satellite TVRO dishes in Nigeria in 1985.
  • Manufacture of the biggest functional satellite TVRO dish “MHM” (named after the president of Egypt Mohammed Hosni Mubarak) at ABG factory in Cairo in 1988.
  • Manufacture of the smallest functional satellite TVRO dish christened “IBB” and unveiled by Nigeria’s President Ibrahim Babangida in 1991.
  • First private broadcast station in Africa (commenced MMDS broadcast in Lagos in 1991).
  • The only indigenous private organization to receive the final endorsement of Nigeria’s Federal Executive Council (Nigeria’s highest decision making body) for the formation of NETPOST made up of DVI (of the USA), NIPOST and ABG Communications Limited.
  • The first indigenous company to be contracted by Peugeot Automobile of Nigeria (PAN) for supply and installation of Blaupunkt Car stereos in Peugeot cars assembled in Nigeria.
  • The first Nigerian company to secure United State Government’s EXIM facility for a 10,000 capacity satellite Hub and about 600 VSAT terminals from ViaSat Inc, Georgia USA.
  • Brought CNN International to Nigeria.
